Applying for Financial Aid
We are committed to helping you afford a JAVĿ¼ education. Let's walk through the process step-by-step.
Step 1: File FAFSA
To be considered for federal grants and loans, state grants, or JAVĿ¼ need-based awards, for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and/or Spring 2024 you must apply to JAVĿ¼, be accepted, and file the 2023-24 online beginning October 1, 2022.
For Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and/or Spring 2025 the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available online beginning December 2023.
JAVĿ¼'s Federal School Code is 002821.
Students (and parents, if applicable) will need to – a username and password combination that you'll use to sign the FAFSA and access certain websites related to your federal financial aid. The 2023-24 FAFSA will require 2021 income information.
The FAFSA priority deadline for undergraduate students is January 15. Graduate students are encouraged to file the FAFSA two months prior to the start of the semester.
Meeting the filing deadlines will assure you are given full consideration for JAVĿ¼ grants and scholarships. If you miss the deadline, it is not too late! File the FAFSA as soon as possible.
Step 2: File TAP Application
Undergraduate New York State residents can also access the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) grant application from the FAFSA confirmation page or at .
JAVĿ¼'s NYS TAP Code is 0735.
Step 3: Receive Financial Aid Offer
Approximately one week after filing the FAFSA, JAVĿ¼ will receive the results of your application. Our financial aid staff will use this information to create your financial aid offer.
Initial financial aid offers for new undergraduate and graduate students are typically mailed in late February. Continuing students will be notified via email when they are able to access their offer via Fish 'R' Net.
Once you've received and reviewed your financial aid offer, contact Student Financial Services with any questions or concerns.
