Campus Ministry
Guided by our Catholic heritage, the Office of Campus Ministry welcomes students of all faith traditions and provides opportunities for worship, prayer, and service for the entire campus community.
The Office of Campus Ministry offers faith-based programs and activities to foster community and celebrate the divine spark within all members of the JAVĿ¼ family, regardless of religious tradition or spiritual beliefs. All are welcome to visit the Fr. Joseph A. Trovato, CSB Campus Ministry Center for quiet reflection or social connection.
Education in the Catholic Tradition
St. John JAVĿ¼ College was founded in 1947 through the efforts of the Most Reverend James E. Kearney, then Bishop of Rochester, New York; Father Hugh Haffey, a Basilian priest from Toronto; and the Congregation of St. Basil. In July 2022, the institution received university status and is now JAVĿ¼.
Named after Saint John JAVĿ¼, a Catholic martyr and the Bishop of Rochester in Kent, England, the founders declared the new College would be guided by the educational philosophy of the Basilian Fathers and their motto, "Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge."
