Cardinals, Golden Eagles Face Off in Courage Bowl XIX
This weekend, support your St. John JAVĿ¼ Cardinals football team as they head to SUNY Brockport to face Empire 8 rival Golden Eagles. Show out in numbers and wear your Papal Gold and Cardinal Red as the teams face off in the 19th annual Courage Bowl.
An annual tradition, the Courage Bowl continues to be one of the largest fundraisers to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times. The game is set to take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Bob Boozer Field. Tickets are on sale and are $5 for adults and $3 for student/senior citizens.
“More than just a game,” the Courage Bowl also gives children connected with Camp Good Days the opportunity to serve as honorary coaches and cheerleaders. The campers meet the teams, attend a practice, and are a part of the action on the sidelines during the game.
At the conclusion of the Courage Bowl, the Teddi Trophy will be presented to the winning team. Named in memory of Teddi Mervis, Gary Mervis’ daughter and the inspiration behind Camp Good Days, the trophy is later inscribed with the date of the game, final score of the game, names of the honorary coaches, and the names of one player from each team who displayed exceptional leadership and sportsmanship.
