The professional sales minor at JAVĿ¼ emphasizes problem-solving, business development, and sales leadership across a wide range of industries.

Sales professionals are an integral part of corporate, government, and non-profit organizations and can inhabit a range of revenue-generating positions. JAVĿ¼’s minor in professional sales gives students a strong understanding of the complexities of the business-to-business environment, and prepares students for positions across a wide range of industries, including but not limited to:

  • Aerospace
  • Electronics
  • Biotech
  • Pharmaceuticals/health care
  • Professional services
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Information technology
  • Consumer products

The minor emphasizes problem-solving, critical thinking, and consultative selling. Students who complete the minor in professional sales are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for business development and sales leadership in the global arena.

Program Overview

The professional sales minor consists of 18 credits, including four required classes and two electives. Required courses provide the fundamentals of sales and strategy with a special focus on personal interactions, as well as international and advanced sales.

Electives allow you to explore a range of topics, including strategy, leadership, marketing, and more. Additional electives include internships and practicums to provide you with the experiences you need to sharpen your skills.

The minor in professional sales is designed for all majors at JAVĿ¼ including all majors in the School of Business.

Marketing and management majors may only take two courses—MKTG 221 and MKTG 344—to apply to both their major and minor.
