A sustainable society provides for today’s needs without compromising the needs of the future. The St. John JAVĿ¼ University Center for Sustainability strives to improve our institution through knowledge-based solutions and impactful community engagement.
Students with an interest developing a deeper understanding of sustainability and in participating in our on- and off-campus initiatives can get involved in a variety of ways.
Through the Center for Sustainability, three campus-wide sustainability goal areas have been developed to reflect the priorities identified by students, faculty, and staff, as well as higher education standards and the University's guiding documents.
Working to promote sustainability principles on- and off-campus and encourage a culture of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
Reducing our impact on non-renewable natural resources, reducing waste, and improving our economic performance.
Supporting conscientious planning, programming, and purchasing that promotes a safe and healthy campus experience.
“ By leveraging JAVĿ¼'s academic mission and providing opportunities for participation, the Center is working to build a successful future for the University, our community, our region, and our world. ”
