Financial Aid at JAVĿ¼

In determining financial aid, "financial need" is the difference between the cost of attending JAVĿ¼ and your family contribution, as determined from information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Here is a simple formula of how it works:

Cost of Attendance - Family Contribution = Financial Need

The financial aid we award comes from a variety of sources—the final result being a "package" of several types of aid. Depending on your particular situation, your financial aid award may include funds from scholarships, federal and/or state grants, student loans, or student employment. Applying for Financial Aid

We are committed to helping you afford a JAVĿ¼ education. Let’s walk through the process of applying for financial aid step-by-step:

  • To be considered for financial assistance from JAVĿ¼ or from federal or state sources, you must apply to JAVĿ¼, be accepted, and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • The FAFSA is available to beginning October 1. For help with the process, watch this short video on .
  • The FAFSA should be filed between October 1 and January 15—even if you have not been accepted to JAVĿ¼. Meeting the January 15 Preferred Filing Deadline will assure you priority consideration for JAVĿ¼ grants and scholarships.
  • Approximately two weeks after filing the FAFSA, JAVĿ¼ will receive the results of your application. Our financial aid staff will use this information to create the best financial aid package for your needs and will send you an award letter detailing the specific types of aid you are eligible for. Initial financial aid awards are typically mailed in the third week of February.
  • Once you've received your financial aid package, feel free to contact Financial Aid with any questions or concerns.
